Ingredients:

Ingredients
Ingredients
  • Wet Ingredients:
  • 3 ripe bananas (the spottier, the better!)
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • Dry Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Your Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease your loaf pan with butter or cooking spray. You can also use parchment paper.
  2. Mash Those Bananas: In a large bowl, peel and mash the ripe bananas using a fork or potato masher. Don’t worry about making it too smooth – a few lumps add character!
  3. Mix in the Good Stuff: Add sugar, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract to the mashed bananas. Stir well until everything is nicely combined. Add half-crushed walnuts to this wet mixture.
  4. The Dry Team: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder
  5. Combine and Conquer: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir until just combined – be careful not to overmix; we want our bread moist and tender.
  6. Into the Pan: Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly.
  7. Add more crunch: Add the rest of the crushed walnuts on top of the mixture for garnishing and extra crunch.
  8. Bake Away: Bake in the preheated oven at 350F for approximately 50-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Keep an eye on it – ovens can vary!
  9. Cool and Enjoy: Allow the banana walnut bread to cool in the pan for 15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack. Once cooled, slice it up and savor the homemade goodness.

Some Tips:

  • If your bananas aren’t ripe enough, pop them in the oven at 300°F for about 15 minutes until the skins turn black. This will intensify their sweetness.

  • You can also add ½ teaspoon of cinnamon powder or 1 teaspoon of cocoa powder to add extra flavor.

  • Experiment with chocolate chips or dried fruits for your twist on this classic recipe.

  • If you have guests in the house, banana walnut bread can be served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top for richness.

  • You can also add 1 tablespoon of Whey Protein to make it a pre-workout snack.

  1. I love this! I do a recipe that is similar to this, but my husband puts a glaze of brown sugar, crushed walnuts, and some spices over the top to give a candied taste to the bread. <3

    1. Thank you so much! Your twist with the brown sugar, crushed walnuts, and spices sounds absolutely delightful. 🤩✨ I can imagine it adds a beautiful candied flavor to the bread. Can’t wait to give it a try and elevate my recipe game!
